Instrument rental
Renting a school-owned instrument costs $67.50 per semester, paid to the district through MySchoolBucks. The fee covers the cost of having instruments professionally cleaned and serviced over the course of the year. This is the only way to make payments when renting an LHS instrument. Questions go to Mrs. Brigham.
I rent both a marching and a concert instrument. Do I pay for both?
Yes. One $67.50 fee for the marching instrument and one for the concert instrument, $135 total. Each instrument is typically used during one semester, so you are charged one semester fee per instrument.
A director assigned me an auxiliary instrument for a piece. Is there a fee?
No. If a director has you playing contrabassoon, soprano sax, piccolo trumpet, or similar because of a piece of concert music, you are not responsible for the fee. The program picked the music, so the program covers it.
I want to perform a solo on an auxiliary instrument. Is there a fee?
Yes. Choosing to perform that solo means checking out the instrument for the semester to practice, so the rental fee applies.
We bought an instrument partway through the year. Do we still owe the fee?
Yes. Even a few weeks of use means the instrument has to be cleaned before another student can be issued it.
Does the fee cover repairs?
Partly. It covers basic cleaning and maintenance. Damage from improper use or accidents is the renter’s responsibility, which is spelled out in the rental agreement you sign at checkout.
I only rent for one semester. Can I still pay online?
Not through the store. A half-year rental is not an option online, so write a check for $67.50 payable to Leander ISD, note your student’s name, school, and “Instrument Rental” in the memo, and deliver it to the Leander ISD District Office.
